Wontumi TV and NET2 TV Vow To Never Cover Any News About NPP After Minority Caucus’s Snub

Two pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) media houses, Wontumi TV and Ken City Media, have announced their decision to boycott future NPP press events, citing neglect by the party’s Minority Caucus in Parliament. The stations claim they have been sidelined from major party press conferences despite their unwavering support for the NPP.

Wontumi TV Slams NPP for Exclusion

Speaking on Wontumi TV, Oheneba Nana Asiedu criticized the NPP for ignoring the station despite its loyalty.

“I won’t speak about their press conference because they have decided to forsake Wontumi TV and Wontumi Radio. Tomorrow, if anyone makes a mistake and talks about the Minority’s press conference, I will personally take them off air,” he stated.

Asiedu further alleged that when Wontumi TV sought clarification from NPP leadership, they were told that there was no budget allocation for them, even though other Accra-based non-NPP stations were invited.

“The last time we called Annoh-Dompreh, he told us their budget did not cover Wontumi TV and FM, yet they invited other stations. Today, because of this attitude, Bawumia is losing the Minority Caucus of Parliament,” he claimed.

Ken City Media Expresses Disappointment

Similarly, Ken City Media, which includes Oman FM, NET2 TV, Nap Radio, and Ash FM, also voiced their frustration with the NPP’s treatment.

Lawyer Annoh-Dartey lamented that despite being regarded as the mouthpiece of the NPP, they were repeatedly excluded from key party events.

“Today, I am very sad. Ken City Media has always been there for the NPP. Even the Minority Leader confirmed that we are the mouthpiece of the party. We have projected the NPP far and wide, yet when they hold press conferences, not a single Ken City station is invited. What they are doing is not right,” he said.

He urged the party to involve Ken City Media in major events, such as budget presentations and policy discussions, emphasizing that the station had endured hardships to support the party.

Concerns Over Internal Party Unity

The growing discontent among pro-NPP media houses raises concerns about internal unity within the party. As the NPP navigates post-election challenges, some worry that sidelining key media allies could weaken the party’s communication strategy and support base.
