UGSRC General Secretary Aspirant Joins Sanitation Exercise, Reaffirms Commitment to Service

In a strong display of leadership and community service, Augustina Naa Ashong, an aspirant for UGSRC General Secretary 2025, joined forces with the Buz Stop Boys in a sanitation exercise at the entrance of the University of Ghana. This initiative underscores her dedication to fostering a cleaner and healthier environment for all students, whether residents or non-residents.
The cleanup exercise, which took place over the weekend, saw Augustina actively participating in sweeping, collecting waste, and ensuring the surroundings of the school’s main entrance were left spotless. Her involvement reflects her hands-on approach to leadership—one that goes beyond policy-making and into real action.

“Leadership is about service, and service is about action,” Augustina remarked during the exercise. “As students, our environment plays a significant role in our daily lives, and it is our responsibility to keep it clean. I believe that if we all come together, we can create a campus that is not only academically excellent but also environmentally friendly.”
The initiative was met with great enthusiasm from students, some of whom joined the exercise to show their support. Many praised Augustina, UGSRC Secretary aspirant for leading by example and demonstrating that leadership is not just about making promises but about taking real steps to improve student life.

With her campaign slogan “Service Beyond Paper”, Augustina aims to bring a proactive and responsive approach to the role of SRC Secretary. She has pledged to work on policies that address sanitation, student welfare, and effective communication between the SRC and the student body.
Her participation in the sanitation exercise is just one of many initiatives she hopes to spearhead if given the mandate. As the SRC elections draw closer, students will be looking out for candidates who are not just vocal but also practical in their approach to leadership.
For students who believe in action-driven leadership, Augustina Naa Ashong, UGSRC General Secretary Aspirant is proving to be a candidate worth supporting.
