Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku has been appointed as the Second Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The announcement was made today by CAF President Patrice Motsepe following an Executive Committee meeting. Okraku’s appointment positions him as one of the top-ranking officials within African football’s governing body.
“This is not just a personal honour but a win for Ghana and West African football,”
— Okraku said in a brief statement after the announcement.
A Rise to Continental Leadership

Kurt Okraku, who has served as GFA President since 2019, has been instrumental in reforming Ghanaian football structures, promoting youth development, and strengthening administrative transparency. His elevation to the CAF leadership ranks reflects growing confidence in his vision and leadership beyond Ghana.
He replaces Augustin Senghor of Senegal, who was the previous Second Vice President.

What This Means for Ghanaian Football
Okraku’s appointment is seen as a strategic opportunity for Ghana to have a stronger voice in key decisions affecting African football — from tournament hosting rights to reforms in club and youth football development.
Stakeholders believe this influence could also boost Ghana’s chances in future continental football initiatives and competitions.
