When any of you fall short, I will not hesitate to act – Mahama issues a stern warning to Ministers

President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a strong message to his ministerial appointees, emphasizing that under his leadership, results — not excuses — will be the standard.
Ministers Must Solve Problems, Not Occupy Positions
Speaking at the opening of a four-day Executive Leadership Programme for Ministerial Appointees on Thursday, April 24, 2025, President Mahama made it clear that ministers were appointed to deliver meaningful change.

“You were not appointed to occupy space. You were appointed to solve problems,” Mahama stated. “The Ghanaian people expect us to deliver. And we must – not with excuses, but with results.”
He stressed that the Executive Leadership Programme was not just an orientation exercise but an opportunity to build a collective mindset for transformative governance.
“We’re not here simply to orient ministers. We’re here to shape a collective mindset,” he added.

No Room for Business-as-Usual
President Mahama strongly warned against complacency, declaring that the traditional “business-as-usual” attitude must end.
“The business-as-usual approach will not work. Indeed, it is dead and we must bury it once and for all,” he stated.
He pointed out the urgency felt across various sectors of Ghanaian society.
“Our young people are tired of waiting interminably. Our farmers, our workers, our entrepreneurs… want to live in dignity and prosperity.”

Accountability Will Be Strictly Enforced
President Mahama cautioned that accountability would not be compromised under his administration.
“Please remember, when any of us fall short, I will not hesitate to act,” he warned.
Building a Collective Vision for Accountable Governance
The Executive Leadership Programme brings together ministers, private sector leaders, and development partners to forge a shared vision of effective, accountable governance under the new NDC administration.
President Mahama’s firm stance signals a new era of performance-driven leadership aimed at restoring public trust and accelerating Ghana’s development.
