U.S. Donates 14 Armoured Vehicles to Ghana Armed Forces to Strengthen Border Security

The United States government has donated 14 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to enhance the country’s border security, particularly in the northern regions.

Strengthening Bilateral Defense Cooperation
The donation was officially handed over during a ceremony at the 153 Armoured Regiment, Abuga Square in Burma Camp. U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Virginia Palmer, presented the vehicles, emphasizing the importance of securing Ghana’s northern borders amid regional security challenges.
Ambassador Palmer reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to bolstering Ghana’s defense capabilities through continued partnerships, capacity-building programs, and the provision of essential military equipment.

Ghana’s Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, expressed gratitude to the U.S. government and its citizens for their ongoing support in promoting regional and global peace. He assured that the Ghana Armed Forces would maintain the donated vehicles to ensure their optimal performance and longevity.

The donation comes at a time when West Africa faces increasing security threats, including terrorism and cross-border crimes.
