Accra Hearts of Oak reignited their pursuit of a top-four finish in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League with a commanding 3-1 victory over city rivals Accra Lions on Matchday 32 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Phobians took an early lead in the 11th minute through Enoch Asubonteng, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to slot home the opener. Accra Lions responded in the second half, equalizing in the 69th minute with a long-range effort from Lawrence Setordjie. However, Hearts of Oak regained control late in the game, with Kwesi Asmah restoring the lead in the 79th minute, followed by Hamza Issah sealing the win in the 88th minute.

This victory propels Hearts of Oak to fifth place on the league table with 52 points, just two points behind fourth-placed Asante Kotoko. With two matches remaining against Legon Cities and FC Samartex, the Phobians are well-positioned to secure a top-four finish.

Head coach Aboubakar Ouattara expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and emphasized the importance of the win in their quest for a strong league finish. “It’s a very important victory for us because it has been a long time since we last won a number of games in the second round,” he stated.

As the season nears its conclusion, Hearts of Oak aim to maintain their momentum and secure a coveted top-four spot in the Ghana Premier League.
