‘I am not a member of the NPP’ – Dr. Richard Amoako Baah Resigns from Party

Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, a political scientist and former member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially announced his resignation from the party. In an interview on JoyNews’ The Pulse on April 16, 2025, Dr. Baah expressed deep dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and its failure to engage with grassroots supporters.
“I am not a member of the NPP, even after today, I’ll quit. I don’t think I want to join it anymore,” he declared.
Dr. Baah criticized the party’s overreliance on political elites and its disregard for the sentiments of ordinary members. He pointed to the party’s “Breaking the Eight” slogan as being out of touch with the realities on the ground, especially in light of the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

In response to these issues, Dr. Baah is advocating for the formation of a new political movement, the New Patriotic Front (NPF), which he believes will better represent the interests of the populace. He revealed that several NPP members, including 36 leading figures, have pledged their support for this new initiative.

“We want to fix the party, but those involved in the wrongdoing are the ones in charge. Do you think they will willingly give you a chance to throw them out? No, they won’t. Leave the party for them and form a new one,” Dr. Baah stated.
