Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak played out a goalless draw in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 5 encounter at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, with both sides failing to find the decisive finish.

Dreams FC enjoyed a number of promising moments, particularly after the break, but were unable to convert their chances into goals.

Joel Agbovi came close to breaking the deadlock, only to be denied by Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare. The goalkeeper was later called into action again when Razak unleashed a powerful shot.

Mohammed Shaban also created an opening for Razak with a well-weighted pass, but the forward could not make the required connection as Dreams missed another opportunity.

Hearts of Oak also threatened at various stages, with Kwesi Asmah testing Rahman Osman after making a forward run. Yaw Baafi was presented with a one-on-one opportunity against the Dreams goalkeeper but failed to finish.

Chris later tried to catch Hearts off guard with a powerful free-kick, although the effort was stopped by the defensive wall.

The result extends Hearts of Oak’s mixed start to the campaign. The Phobians opened the season with a 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea and followed it with a 2-1 away win against Bibiani Gold Stars. They have since drawn goalless with Bechem United, suffered a 1-0 defeat to Karela United and now settled for another draw against Dreams FC.

Hearts coach Nebojša Kapor acknowledged that his team struggled to make the most of their attacking opportunities.

“We made a lot of technical mistakes in the final third in the first half. We tried to fix them after the break, but it didn’t work. Hopefully, we can address these issues before our next match,” Kapor said after the game.

Dreams FC centre-back Kofi Junior Kumah was named the NASCO Man of the Match following his performance.

For Dreams, the stalemate means they remain without a league victory after five matches. The Still Believe side had entered the fixture with defeats against Berekum Chelsea, Gold Stars and Bechem United, while their only previous point came from a draw against Medeama SC.

Despite playing at home, Dreams could not secure the breakthrough and remain winless after five rounds.

Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, have now gone three consecutive league matches without scoring and will be seeking an improved attacking display in their next outing.
