The Ghana Police Service has postponed the full rollout of its automated traffic law enforcement system TRAFFITECH-GH , from October 1 to November 1, 2026.

The programme, being implemented through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), is designed to strengthen the enforcement of road traffic regulations through automated monitoring.

In a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah, Staff Officer at the Public Affairs Directorate, the Police said the one-month postponement would provide additional time for public education and awareness ahead of the implementation.

The Service explained that the education campaign would cover how the system operates, the types of traffic offences it will identify, and the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) to be issued to motorists who breach the law.

“The education will focus on the operations of the system, the specific traffic offences it will detect, and the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) that will be issued to offending motorists,” the statement said.

According to the Police, “TRAFFITECH-GH forms part of efforts to address indiscipline on Ghana’s roads and improve compliance with road traffic laws and regulations.”

The Service has therefore encouraged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to use the additional month to learn about the system and understand what will be required when enforcement begins.

The Ghana Police Service also thanked the media for its support in creating awareness about the initiative and reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation aimed at improving road safety.
