The Black Stars suffered their second successive loss in Group C after throwing away a two-goal advantage at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

Ghana appeared to be in control after Ernest Nuamah and Felix Afena-Gyan scored to give the hosts a 2-0 lead. However, The Gambia responded strongly in the second half to overturn the deficit and secure a 4-2 victory.

The defeat came just days after Ghana began their qualifying campaign with a 2-0 loss to Ivory Coast in their opening Group C encounter.

Reacting to questions on X, formerly Twitter, Mr George, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, renewed his call for major reforms within Ghanaian football.

“As for the Black Stars, my position before is my position today. Disband the team. Sack the FA. Let FIFA ban us for two years. Take the time to properly rebuild the team. Truth hurts, but the patchwork is worse. Cheers,” he wrote.

The back-to-back defeats have put Ghana under significant pressure in the race to secure qualification for the 2027 AFCON, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

The Black Stars are scheduled to return to competitive action in October when they take on Somalia in a two-legged fixture.
