African Beach Soccer Goal King, Alexander Adjei to Join Barcelona BSC

AFCON top scorer’s move marks a new chapter for Ghanaian beach soccer

Ghanaian beach soccer star Alexander Adjei has signed with Barcelona Beach Soccer Club, becoming the first player from Ghana to join a professional beach soccer team abroad. The move was officially announced on May 24, 2025, marking a significant milestone for both Adjei and Ghana’s beach soccer community.

Adjei, formerly of Sea Sharks Beach Soccer Club, has been a standout performer on the African beach soccer scene. He clinched the top scorer title at the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations twice—first in 2015 with 17 goals in Seychelles, and again in 2024 with 11 goals in Egypt. His exceptional strength, speed, and finishing ability have made him a key figure for both his club and Ghana’s national beach soccer team, the Black Sharks.

Barcelona Beach Soccer Club’s Brazilian coach, Leo Braga, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition: “This is a very exciting moment for the club and also for Alex because we have been monitoring his development for some time, and we believe he can improve our team.”

Adjei shared his excitement about the new opportunity, stating, “It’s a dream come true. I’ve worked hard for this moment, and I’m proud to be carrying the flag of Ghana into the international arena.”

His signing is expected to enhance Barcelona’s attacking options and draw greater international attention to the growth of beach soccer in Africa.
