Ghanaian rapper Medikal has sparked major political discussion with a public show of support for President John Dramani Mahama in a viral post on social media.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the “Stubborn Academy” hitmaker urged Ghanaians to appreciate Mahama’s leadership, calling him a “very serious guy” who deserves to remain in power.

“Make una pray make Mahama no leave power oo, very serious guy!” Medikal posted.

President Mahama, who staged a stunning comeback with a landslide victory in the 2024 elections, has been receiving widespread acclaim for his governance and renewed development agenda. Medikal’s endorsement adds fresh momentum to the growing wave of public approval.

The rapper didn’t stop there. He boldly suggested two names he believes should take over after Mahama completes his term:

“Even if he does finish his term, he should pass it over to Ibrahim Mahama, his brother, or Alan Cash. These men have serious ambitions to make Ghana a great nation, trust me,” he wrote.

Medikal’s mention of Ibrahim Mahama, a prominent businessman, and Alan Kyerematen (popularly known as Alan Cash), the founder of the Movement for Change, has fueled further conversations about Ghana’s future leadership landscape.

While celebrity endorsements in politics are not uncommon, Medikal’s vocal backing of Mahama—and his naming of potential successors—has generated intense public reaction online, with many praising his boldness and others debating the implications of such influence from the entertainment sector.

As political campaigning intensifies ahead of the next election cycle, such endorsements may play a growing role in shaping public opinion and stirring national dialogue around leadership, continuity, and development.
