Offei

Bernice Offei died on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the age of 63, after several decades in Ghana’s gospel music industry. Fellow gospel musician Nii Okai announced her death, which was also confirmed by music producer Kwasi Ernest.

Her death came days after she was reported missing in Accra on September 1. She was later found, bringing relief to her family and members of the public who had joined efforts to locate her.

Her former manager, Kwasi Ernest, disclosed that she had battled dementia for about five years before her death. He said the condition affected her memory and ability to carry out everyday activities.

Offei was known for gospel songs such as Life Is Short, Hold On and Kaa She Gbeyei. Her contributions to Ghanaian gospel music received recognition at the 2009 Ghana Music Awards, where she won Best Female Vocal Performance and Songwriter of the Year.

She leaves behind a lasting musical legacy that touched gospel music lovers in Ghana and beyond.
