Carlos Queiroz has called for unity and continued support for the Black Stars following the end of his latest spell as Ghana head coach.
The Portuguese coach, who has parted ways with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after seven matches in charge, used his farewell message to pay tribute to the players and urge Ghanaians to continue believing in the team.

“Above all, I pay tribute to the players of the Black Stars. Thank you to all of them who represented Ghana with courage, commitment and pride. You fought for your country and carried the hopes of millions,” Queiroz said.
The 73-year-old also urged supporters to stand behind the current generation, saying the squad has the talent and potential to achieve more with the right support.
“Believe in these players. Protect them. Support them. The talent and potential are there. With unity, support and the right environment, this generation can achieve great things for Ghana.”
Queiroz’s latest spell ended after seven matches, during which Ghana recorded one win, two draws and four defeats, scoring five goals and conceding 10.
His final two matches were 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia. The Black Stars lost 2-0 in Bouaké before suffering a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia in Accra, despite taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
Queiroz also thanked Ghanaian supporters for their backing throughout his time with the national team.
“To the Ghanaian people and all Black Stars supporters, thank you for your passion, support and warmth. I will always carry Ghana with me with respect and affection.”
He concluded by emphasising that the national team and the broader interests of Ghanaian football should remain the priority.
“Ghana comes first. The Black Stars come first. Ghanaian football comes first.”
Queiroz’s departure leaves the GFA with the task of determining the next direction for the Black Stars as Ghana continues its 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
