Ghanaian nurses selected for employment in Saint Kitts and Nevis are expected to benefit from enhanced salaries and legally protected employment conditions following the signing of an additional bilateral labour agreement between the two countries. Editorial Ethics & Independence
The agreement guarantees improved conditions of service for Ghanaian nurses, including enhanced salaries, health insurance, rent allowance, end-of-service benefits and other labour rights, according to Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Mr Ablakwa and Saint Kitts and Nevis Deputy Prime Minister Dr Geoffrey Hanley signed the agreement on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The arrangement marks another step in efforts by Ghana to strengthen bilateral cooperation while ensuring that Ghanaian professionals working abroad receive clearly defined employment protections.
Announcing the development, Mr Ablakwa said the agreement would provide nurses recruited to work in the Caribbean nation with enhanced benefits protected under the agreed employment framework. Editorial Standards
He also praised Ghanaian professionals for their contributions internationally, noting that their skills and expertise continued to attract interest from countries seeking qualified workers.
