Floodwaters and damaged bridges have disrupted transportation on the Gbeniyiri-Kalba and Tuna-Kalba roads, leaving passengers, students and teachers stranded and cutting off access to several communities.
The situation has been particularly severe on the Tuna-Kalba road, where a bridge at Kunfugsi has collapsed, making it impossible for vehicles travelling between Tuna and Kalba to use the route.
Meanwhile, sections of the Gbeniyiri-Kalba road have been submerged by large volumes of floodwater, forcing motorists to abandon their journeys as the affected portions have become difficult or impossible to cross.
The flooding has also affected residents living in communities along the routes, with some homes reportedly inundated by rising water.
The disruption has had a direct impact on education, with students and teachers facing difficulties travelling to their schools because of the flooded roads and collapsed bridges.
Passengers and other road users stranded by the situation have raised concerns about the growing difficulty of reaching the affected communities and continuing their journeys.
Residents have also expressed frustration over the deteriorating condition of the roads, saying the flooding is disrupting transportation and other essential daily activities.
The latest development has heightened concerns about the accessibility of the affected communities, particularly as residents rely heavily on the roads for education, transportation and access to essential services.
