The National Food Buffer Stock Company Limited (NAFCO) has cautioned the public against fraudsters allegedly impersonating its agents and falsely claiming they can influence the allocation of food supply contracts to second-cycle schools.
According to NAFCO, it has received reports of individuals approaching unsuspecting members of the public and demanding money in exchange for promises to help them secure contracts to supply food to schools.
In a statement issued by its Corporate Affairs Department on Thursday, September 3, 2026, the company stressed that no third party has been authorised to facilitate the award or allocation of food supply contracts to schools.
NAFCO said businesses and individuals interested in becoming suppliers must register directly at any of its offices across the country and participate in a rigorous, merit-based selection process.
“NAFCO operates an open-door policy,” the company stated, emphasising that the contract allocation process is designed to operate without third-party influence.
The company therefore urged prospective suppliers to deal directly with NAFCO and avoid paying individuals who claim to have special connections or influence over its procurement and contract-awarding processes.
NAFCO further advised the public to disregard anyone demanding money in return for promises of securing school food supply contracts.
It also encouraged anyone who encounters individuals making such claims to report them to the nearest police station.
