The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Jinapor, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a reliable and resilient energy system capable of supporting Ghana’s economic growth.
Dr Jinapor led agencies under the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition in a frank and constructive meeting with the Ministry of Finance, headed by Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, to assess the current state of Ghana’s energy sector.
The engagement, held in Accra on Thursday, September 2, focused on the major challenges facing the sector, with particular attention to the critical link between energy-sector operations and public finances.
Dr Jinapor said the government’s ongoing reforms were beginning to address some of the sector’s long-standing structural challenges.
“Through the reforms being implemented by the government, we are making meaningful progress in addressing the structural challenges in the energy sector.”
He stressed that government would continue with the reforms aimed at improving the financial sustainability of the sector and ensuring a dependable energy supply to support national development.
Earlier, Dr Jinapor attended the 2026 Annual General Meeting of BOSTenergies Limited, where he commended the company’s strong financial performance in 2025.
The company recorded a 195 percent increase in revenue to GH¢3.81 billion, while profit after tax grew by 72 percent to GH¢684 million.
Dr Jinapor also welcomed the company’s decision to pay a five percent dividend to the Government of Ghana, describing it as a significant milestone and the first of its kind in the company’s history.
He said the achievement demonstrated that State-Owned Enterprises could generate value for the Ghanaian people.
The Minister urged BOSTenergies to build on its gains by increasing strategic petroleum reserves, modernising key infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency and expanding its commercial activities.
“As Ghana advances its economic transformation agenda and the 24 Hour Economy, BOSTenergies must remain central to our energy security and national development,” he said.
