The High Court has set aside an earlier ruling that paved the way for Nii Amanor Dodoo and Cola Holdings to take possession of the No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel in Accra.

The decision follows a court order dated August 21, 2026, which nullified the takeover of the hotel on July 23 and directed the respondents to return possession to the applicant.

The hotel is partly owned by presidential aspirant Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar.

Following the earlier ruling on July 23, Nii Amanor Dodoo and Cola Holdings, with the assistance of police officers, took possession of the property.

However, Justice John-Mark Nuku Alifo has now granted a motion seeking to set aside the purported possession of the hotel.

In the order cited by 3News, the court stated that the takeover was carried out in breach of Rule 27(3) of the Court of Appeal Rules, 1997 (C.I. 19), as substituted by the Court of Appeal (Amendment) Rules, 2020 (C.I. 132).

The high court consequently ordered the respondents to immediately hand over possession of the No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel to the applicant.

They have also been directed to return all keys, access codes, books, records and monies belonging to the applicant that came into their possession or control from July 23, 2026.

The court further ordered that the handover must be conducted against a joint inventory prepared by representatives of both parties under the supervision of the Registrar of the High Court.

A copy of the inventory, signed by both parties, is to be filed at the court registry within three days after the handover.

The first respondent has also been directed to provide an account of all receipts and payments relating to the receivership during the period from July 23, 2026, until the date possession is returned.

The account must be filed at the high court registry and served on the applicant within seven days of the handover.

The latest ruling effectively reverses the earlier possession of the No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel and sets out specific steps for restoring control of the property to the applicant.
