Government has announced plans to establish a Belarus Trade Hub in Ghana to serve as a regional centre for commerce, investment, and industrial cooperation across West Africa. The initiative is expected to strengthen bilateral relations, create employment opportunities, and improve access to international markets for Ghanaian businesses.

The Government of Ghana has unveiled plans to host a Belarus Trade Hub as part of efforts to expand international trade and position the country as a gateway for investment into West Africa.

Officials said the proposed trade hub will facilitate commercial partnerships between Ghanaian enterprises and Belarusian manufacturers while promoting exports, technology transfer, and industrial development.Speaking at the announcement ceremony, government representatives explained that Ghana’s strategic location, stable political environment, and expanding infrastructure make it an ideal destination for regional trade operations.

The facility is expected to provide exhibition centres, business support services, warehousing, and logistics coordination for companies seeking access to markets within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).Officials believe the initiative will encourage investment in agriculture, manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceuticals, and transport equipment.

The Ministry of Trade indicated that discussions have also focused on strengthening technical cooperation in mechanized agriculture, food processing, and industrial equipment manufacturing.

Business associations welcomed the announcement, describing it as an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to expand export markets and attract foreign investment.Economists say successful implementation could diversify Ghana’s trade partnerships while reducing dependence on traditional export destinations. They, however, emphasized the importance of improving local production capacity to maximize potential benefits.

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre has assured investors of continued support through simplified registration procedures and investment incentives.

Small and medium-sized enterprises are expected to benefit from training programmes designed to improve competitiveness and meet international quality standards.Trade analysts believe the new partnership could contribute significantly to employment creation, industrial growth, and increased foreign direct investment if implemented effectively.Construction of supporting infrastructure is expected to commence after the completion of bilateral agreements between the two governments.
