BoG Postpones Launch of Cedi’s 60th Anniversary After Helicopter Crash

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has postponed the national launch of the Cedi @60 Anniversary originally scheduled for Friday, August 8, at the Accra International Conference Centre, following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of five prominent government officials and three members of the Ghana Armed Forces on Wednesday.

In an official statement, the central bank said:

“We regret to announce that the launch has been postponed.”

The BoG expressed its deepest condolences to President Mahama, the Government and People of Ghana, and the bereaved families, acknowledging the gravity of the national tragedy.

The Bank also noted:

“The Bank appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all its stakeholders and the general public during this period of national mourning.”

The postponement is part of broader national mourning efforts, including the three-day mourning period declared by President John Dramani Mahama in honour of the deceased.
