Swift Police Action Foils Robbery Near Asankragua

The Western Central Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two men, Mohammed Abdul-Salam (28) and Karim Yakubu (42), for attempting to commit a robbery near Asankragua, a town known for its strategic location and commercial activity.

According to reports, the suspects were intercepted by law enforcement officers following a tip-off and strategic surveillance in the area.


Dramatic Escape Attempt Ends in Arrest

In an unexpected twist, the suspects made a desperate attempt to flee the scene by leaping into a muddy pit, hoping to evade arrest. However, their efforts were short-lived, as officers swiftly apprehended them within minutes.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as “movie-like,” with locals stunned by the bold yet futile attempt to escape.

The Police Command has praised its officers for their alertness and tactical coordination, which led to the quick arrest of the suspects. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the duo is linked to any previous robbery cases in the area.

The Regional Police Public Affairs Directorate has assured the public that security measures are being reinforced, especially along known hotspots in the region.

Authorities are encouraging residents to continue collaborating with security agencies by reporting suspicious activity. “Public vigilance remains a key weapon in our fight against crime,” an official emphasized.
