Ghanaian sing-a-thon attemptee Afua Asantewaa has firmly denied claims that she received financial support from former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In an interview with Empress Gifty on UTV, Asantewaa stated that she never personally received any money from Dr. Bawumia, although she had heard rumors of such a donation.

She lamented that in Ghana, truth-tellers are often seen as outcasts and accused of betrayal.

“When you tell the truth, people act as if you are putting them in shackles. But the truth is the truth,” she insisted.

Afua Asantewaa emphasized that her statement should not be misconstrued as ungratefulness, noting that she has shown appreciation to everyone who supported her, regardless of the amount.

Her remarks come amid ongoing debates about the funding and sponsorship of her Guinness World Record sing-a-thon attempt, which drew massive national attention.

    accountability, inclusiveness, innovation, and effective representation.
