The transfer saga of the summer is drawing to a close, with Nico Williams making a decisive move regarding his future. According to reports, the winger has already informed his agent, Felix Tainta, who has communicated this decision to interested clubs.

‘El Partidazo de COPE’ reports that Nico Williams will stay in Bilbao, a decision that has already been conveyed to PSG, one of the contenders for the Athletic player’s signature. This decision marks a significant setback for PSG and Barcelona, both of whom had high hopes for securing the Spanish international.

Barcelona President Joan Laporta had recently expressed the club’s financial readiness to sign top-tier players, implicitly referring to Williams. However, with this latest development, the dream of bringing Nico to Camp Nou appears to be over.

After a well-deserved holiday, Nico Williams returned to his homeland on Sunday and is reportedly committed to playing for Athletic during the 2024-25 season, barring a radical change of mind. ‘El Partidazo de COPE’ emphasizes that his decision seems firm.

Contrary to this, ‘Jijantes’ claims that the winger has not yet officially informed Athletic of his intention to stay, leaving some uncertainty about his final decision. He is expected to make an official announcement this week, ahead of his scheduled return to training with the Basque side on the 12th.
