Tottenham Express Interest in Ghanaian Striker Antoine Semenyo

Tottenham Hotspur have made an initial approach for Ghana and Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo, according to reports on June 21, 2025. The North London club are said to be exploring a potential deal but have not yet made a formal offer.

Semenyo, 25, is open to a move to Spurs, but Bournemouth’s £70 million valuation has caused hesitation, not just from Tottenham but also from other interested clubs, including Manchester United.

Semenyo’s rise to Premier League prominence

Since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023, Semenyo has become a key figure under manager Andoni Iraola. His pace, strength, and direct style have made him a fan favourite and a consistent threat in front of goal.

He scored 13 goals in 42 appearances in the 2024/25 season across all competitions, bringing his two-season total to 21 goals. His form has also solidified his place in Ghana’s Black Stars, where he has emerged as a vital attacking option.

Spurs’ transfer strategy

New Spurs boss Thomas Frank, formerly of Brentford, is reportedly eager to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. The club recently made Mathys Tel’s loan move from Bayern Munich permanent, but with European football on the horizon, Frank is seeking further depth and dynamism in his frontline.

Aside from Semenyo, Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo is also on Tottenham’s radar. However, Mbeumo is similarly attracting interest from Manchester United, making competition for forward reinforcements fierce.

Semenyo’s contract and career history

Semenyo penned a new five-year deal with Bournemouth in July 2024, which means any transfer would require substantial negotiations. He previously played for Bristol City, where he made 125 senior appearances, and spent time on loan at Bath City, Newport County, and Sunderland.

The striker’s Premier League growth, international experience, and versatility across the frontline have made him one of the more coveted emerging forwards in English football.
