Seven(7) soldiers have been placed under closed arrest for allegedly assaulting civilians

The Military Police and the Ashanti Regional Police CID are currently investigating an alleged assault on civilians by some soldiers in the region.
In a statement signed by Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quarshie, Director General of Public Relations, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) confirmed that its attention has been drawn to an incident that occurred on March 28, 2025.

According to reports, seven military personnel, including three officers and four soldiers, allegedly assaulted civilians in connection with a missing phone belonging to another civilian. The victims reportedly sustained varied degrees of injuries.

The officers involved have since been placed under closed arrest, while a full-scale investigation is underway.
The GAF has assured the public that anyone found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary action in line with the law.
