Key Suspect Arrested in Murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested Bright Aweh, identified as the key suspect in the gruesome killing of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, whose burnt body was discovered on 9 July 2025 near GBC Satellite, opposite Comet Estate in Accra.
According to police reports, Officer Amoah was declared missing on 4 July 2025 after leaving his residence in Ashongman Estate the night before. Investigators say Bright Aweh had sent WhatsApp images of large bundles of cash to Amoah and invited him to meet at a specific location in Ashongman around 8:00 pm on 3 July. This was the last time Amoah was seen alive. On discovering the charred body, family members positively identified him at the Police Hospital morgue, despite the severity of the burns.
Investigation Details and Police Appeal
During interrogation, Bright Aweh admitted handing over GH₵500,000 in cash to Amoah, claiming part was for debt repayment and the rest to be held for later collection. However, he failed to clearly explain the source of the funds and provided conflicting statements, raising serious suspicion about his involvement.


Authorities have condemned the violent act and pledged a thorough investigation to uncover all individuals involved and bring them to justice. The public has been urged to assist by providing any relevant information to the nearest police station or by calling the emergency lines 18555 or 192.
