‘I’m Very Impressed’ – Didi Dramani Commends Hearts Players Despite President’s Cup Loss to Kotoko

Despite suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the 2025 President’s Cup, Accra Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani has expressed admiration for his team’s performance, praising their discipline, effort, and spirit throughout the highly anticipated clash.
The match, held at the Accra Sports Stadium, saw the two arch-rivals deliver an electric encounter that lived up to the legacy of Ghana’s most iconic football rivalry. While Kotoko emerged victorious, Dramani emphasized that Hearts are on a steady path of progress under his leadership.
How the Match Unfolded
Hamza Issah gave Hearts the early lead in the 23rd minute, seizing on a costly error by Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara to break the deadlock and send Phobian fans into jubilation.
But Kotoko flipped the script in the second half. An own goal by Konadu Yiadom in the 51st minute leveled the score, and just moments later, a decisive strike by Kwame Opoku gave the Porcupine Warriors the lead — one they defended fiercely till the final whistle.
Hearts mounted a late rally that included a disallowed goal and a missed penalty, but Kotoko’s resilience secured them the title.
“We Are in a Progressive Process” – Dramani Reflects
In his post-match reaction, Coach Didi Dramani remained optimistic despite the result:
“It’s part of the industry. At a time we were controlling, we lost a key player [Osei Asibey]. They took a chance, and so we have to acknowledge that. We are in a progressive process.”
He commended his players for sticking to the game plan, showcasing tactical discipline, and maintaining composure under intense pressure from their rivals.

“I’m very impressed with the composition and execution. There is a lot we have done, but there is a lot we have to put in. I believe we will get there with some adjustments,” he added.
Dramani also used the opportunity to thank the club’s supporters, promising an improved performance moving forward.
Looking Ahead: A Work in Progress
Hearts of Oak are clearly in a rebuilding phase under the experienced tactician. While the defeat stings, the performance offered encouraging signs of tactical growth, mental fortitude, and team cohesion — key pillars for long-term success.
With fans backing the team and management showing confidence in Dramani’s leadership, Hearts of Oak are aiming for consistency and silverware as they refine their playing identity.
