I will match him boot for boot—Kennedy Agyapong on Abronye DC feud

Presidential aspirant and outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Kennedy Agyapong, has hit back forcefully at comments made by Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, during a heated exchange that has further exposed deep cracks within the ruling party.

In an interview with Metro TV, monitored by MyNewsGh, Agyapong expressed deep disappointment over the public insults hurled at him by Abronye, whom he described as a close ally he has supported in the past.

“That is why I said, look, the way things are going, what happened at Brikumu, the way Avronia insulted me… he is a good friend that I have helped. But because of politics, he gets opportunity to talk to me anyhow,” Agyapong lamented.

The maverick politician made it clear that he would not be silenced by those advising him to overlook the disrespect.

“Everybody says, don’t say anything. That I would not accept. If Kennedy Agyapong is quiet, it doesn’t mean I would let anybody take me for granted. That is not Kennedy Agyapong,” he declared.

Agyapong further emphasized that staying silent in such circumstances would betray his principles.

“It means I’ll be faking. The truth is truth, and I’m always defending. I could not allow this guy to diss me the way he dissed me in front of people, and I could not say anything.”

Drawing a striking metaphor, Agyapong referenced former boxing champion Mike Tyson, recounting an infamous incident between Tyson and his ex-wife to underscore how hidden insults can have lasting damage.

“Let me give you a reference. If you know Mike Tyson, Mike Tyson and his wife granted an interview, and in the course of the interview, the wife insulted him. He didn’t even understand it until they got home. That caused the divorce.”

Ending his remarks, he insisted that he fully understood the veiled attacks from Abronye and had every right to defend his dignity.

“I’m not illiterate, but I don’t even understand the insinuations Abronye was casting for me to be quiet.”

Rising Tensions in the NPP

The confrontation between Kennedy A. and Abronye DC is the latest in a series of public spats threatening party cohesion ahead of the next political cycle. With Agyapong eyeing the presidency, internal rivalries and personal clashes are drawing significant public attention.
