Government Launches “No-Fees-Stress” Portal for First Years To Seek Financial Support

The Government of Ghana, in collaboration with the Student Loan Trust Fund has officially launched a digital portal under the newly introduced “No-Fees-Stress” policy, allowing first-year students in public tertiary institutions to apply for financial support. The move is part of efforts to ensure equitable access to higher education for all, regardless of economic background.

Portal Access and Eligibility

According to the Ministry of Education, the portal is accessible via http://no-fees-stress.gov.gh and is open to all Ghanaian students who have gained admission into any public tertiary institution for the 2024/2025 academic year. Applicants must provide admission details, valid Ghana Card information, and evidence of financial need.

The policy covers tuition, academic facility user fees, and other institutional levies. Priority will be given to students from low-income households, rural communities, and persons with disabilities.

During the launch event, Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu described the policy as a “transformative, bold, and visionary initiative” aimed at mitigating financial constraints that prevent many Ghanaian students from pursuing tertiary education.
