Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has explained his decision to feature more Nigerian actors in his latest movie, saying he has found Nollywood stars more responsive and business-oriented when working on film projects.

Speaking to bloggers in Ghana following the arrival of several Nigerian actors for his upcoming movie, A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu), Lil Win said Nigerian actors tend to respond promptly after receiving scripts, unlike some Ghanaian actors whom he claims are often difficult to reach.

“Nigerian actors take one day to read my script and sign contracts, but Ghanaian actors don’t even answer simple calls,” Lil Win said.

The actor and filmmaker added that he does not want to repeatedly persuade actors to feature in his productions. He also believes that working with Nigerian stars could help attract a larger audience because of their strong fan base and popularity beyond Ghana.

Preparations are currently underway for A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu), which is being produced under Lil Win’s production banner.

Nollywood stars Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, Mike Ezuruonye, Zubby Michael and Destiny Etiko arrived in Ghana on September 30 to take part in the production.

The upcoming film follows Lil Win’s 2024 movie A Country Called Ghana, which also featured prominent Nigerian actors, including Ramsey Nouah, Victor Osuagwu and Charles Awurum.

According to Lil Win, his collaboration with Nigerian actors is also aimed at bringing fresh energy into Ghana’s film industry while creating opportunities for local productions to reach audiences beyond the country.
