The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, a phone dealer associated with the Circle commercial area in Accra. Editorial Ethics & Independence
The arrests followed investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit after Kyere was reported missing on September 22, 2026.
The Police Public Affairs Directorate announced the development in a statement issued on Monday, September 28, and signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah.
The suspects have been identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai.
Preliminary investigations have linked the suspects to events surrounding Kyere’s disappearance and the subsequent discovery of his partially burnt remains.
According to the police account, Kyere left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19, 2026, driving his Honda Civic vehicle.
He reportedly failed to return home, prompting concern about his whereabouts. Editorial Standards
Investigators subsequently established a sequence of events that allegedly led to his death, the disposal of his body and the recovery of some of his personal belongings.
Police Outline Events Leading to the Victim’s Death
Preliminary investigations indicate that Kyere was allegedly lured to the residence of Philip Tefe at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.
Police say the two suspects confessed to their involvement during investigations.
According to the account provided by investigators, a confrontation occurred at the residence, during which Tefe allegedly attacked Kyere with a metallic object.
The victim reportedly sustained severe injuries and was left unattended in another room. He later died from his injuries, according to the preliminary police findings. Corrections Policy
The suspects are alleged to have subsequently arranged to dispose of the body to conceal the circumstances surrounding the death.
Investigators say that on September 20, the body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze.
A partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21.
Kyere’s biological mother and uncle later identified the remains at the Hospital morgue on September 24, helping investigators establish the victim’s identity.
The discovery and identification of the remains became a key part of the investigation into the missing phone dealer’s disappearance.
