Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has opened up about a recent heartbreak after a woman he wanted to pursue a serious relationship with turned him down.
Speaking during a Friday night livestream with streamer Okiki, the singer said he approached the woman with the intention of building a long-term relationship, but she told him she was not ready to commit to one person.
According to Rema, the woman said she still wanted to enjoy her life as a single woman and was not ready to be “taken off the streets.”
He revealed that the experience later inspired his song, Oh No.
“The song was inspired by a lady I wanted a serious relationship with, but she said she still wants to be on the streets,” he said.
The 26-year-old musician also disclosed that he has been taking time to reflect on his life and experiences, particularly how quickly his career took off after he became famous at the age of 17.
Rema said the rapid rise to fame has prompted him to slow down and reassess different aspects of his life.
