Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, popularly known as Strika, has reportedly been sentenced by an Accra court after he was allegedly caught removing metal railings from the Kwashieman footbridge in Accra.
Strika, who shot to international fame after starring alongside Idris Elba in the 2015 Netflix war drama “Beasts of No Nation”, was reportedly apprehended by residents in August 2026 while allegedly cutting sections of the footbridge’s metal railings.
According to reports, the former child actor was allegedly removing the railings with the intention of selling them as scrap metal.
A video said to have captured the incident was shared on social media on August 29, 2026, and subsequently circulated widely on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The footage reportedly showed residents confronting Strika at the footbridge while recording the incident. The actor could be seen surrounded by several people as the confrontation unfolded.
The development resurfaced on social media on September 14, 2026, after a post claimed that Strika had been sentenced to seven years in prison for cutting the railings.
However, there are conflicting accounts regarding the actual length of the alleged sentence.
Official Gunshot GH, Strika’s former caretaker and an associate of Kumawood actor and content creator Dr Likee, reportedly spoke with the actor by phone and later shared an update with his YouTube audience.
During the conversation, Strika allegedly said he had appeared before a court and had been sentenced to one year in prison.
He further claimed that he had been informed he would be transferred to Nsawam Prison on Monday, September 14, 2026, to begin serving his sentence.
The actor also reportedly expressed regret over some of his past actions and appealed to Official Gunshot GH and his associate for support.
The conflicting reports with one account claiming a one-year sentence and another alleging a seven-year term have yet to be independently clarified.
News of the alleged sentencing has sparked concern among social media users, with some expressing sympathy for Strika and questioning the circumstances that led to the reported incident.
Strika gained international recognition as a child actor through his portrayal of the character “Strika” in “Beasts of No Nation”. His performance in the critically acclaimed film brought him widespread attention and established him as one of Ghana’s notable young acting talents at the time.
His reported arrest and sentencing have now renewed public interest in his life and circumstances following his early success in the film industry.
