Member of Parliament for Asawase Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has pledged to increase investment in sports infrastructure as part of efforts to create more opportunities for young people in the constituency. Corrections Policy
The promise was made after the opening of the Dogo Moro Mini-Stadium in Asawase, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The new facility is expected to give residents young people, better access to sports facilities and a good place to grow their skills.
The mini-stadium was named after former Black Stars defender Dogo Moro, who was part of Ghana’s football team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1963 and 1965.

Choosing to name the facility after the former player also gives a chance to honor his work in football and connect the past of the sport with the development of young talent.
At the event to open the facility Muntaka Mubarak, who’s also the Interior Minister of Ghana called the project an important step in efforts to change the Asawase constituency through investment in infrastructure youth development and sports.
“We took another step in our shared journey to change the constituency through focused investment in infrastructure youth development and sports ” he said.
The Dogo Moro Mini-Stadium has a basketball court and other features meant to help with sports activities in the community.According to the MP the facility means Asawase now has three AstroTurf facilities, which are Dogo Moro, Akurem Highlanders and Aboabo Middle B.
Expanding sports facilities in the area is expected to make it easier for young athletes and community teams to use playing surfaces and take the pressure off existing places.Muntaka said his plan is not about building sports facilities.
He wants to make Asawase a center for developing athletes.”I am committed to making Asawase a place for sports development and using sports as a way to help young people bring people together and create economic opportunities ” he said.
