An NDC branch organiser for Agona West, Prince Aboagye, has been granted bail of GH¢200,000 after being arraigned before a court over alleged false and offensive statements made about former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on TikTok.
The 39-year-old lotto agent, who is also known as “Atutulagh,” pleaded not guilty to charges of “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace” and “publication of false news.” The court admitted him to bail with three sureties, one of whom must justify the bond with landed property. The case has been adjourned to August 19, 2026.
According to the prosecution, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Seth Frimpong, the Ghana Police Service launched investigations after discovering a TikTok video on the account “@atutulagh” in July 2026. Prosecutors alleged that the video contained false and offensive remarks about Dr Bawumia and was intended to incite a breach of the peace.
The court heard that Aboagye was arrested on July 19, 2026. During police questioning, he admitted recording and uploading the video to his TikTok account but acknowledged that the allegations he made in the video were false.
