A new Ghana Infrastructure Report Card has revealed that the country’s roads, health and railway sectors remain among the weakest-performing infrastructure areas. The report, released by the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE), rated all three sectors at 50 per cent, equivalent to Grade E.

The assessment evaluated infrastructure across several sectors, including education, electricity, telecommunications, water, aviation and healthcare. Aviation emerged as the best-performing sector, while electricity recorded slight improvements but remained below satisfactory levels.

The GhIE attributed the poor performance largely to inadequate funding and maintenance challenges. The institution called for increased investment and stronger maintenance strategies to improve infrastructure quality and support national development goals.
