Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain produced a stunning performance to defeat Bayern Munich 5-4 in a record-breaking UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg, delivering one of the most dramatic matches in the competition’s history.

The clash at the Parc des Princes saw nine goals shared between the two European giants, making it the highest-scoring semi-final ever recorded in the UEFA Champions League.

Bayern struck first in the 17th minute when Harry Kane converted from the penalty spot, extending his remarkable scoring run in the competition.  But PSG responded with intensity and flair, as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia levelled before João Neves headed the hosts into the lead.

The momentum swung again when Michael Olise equalised for Bayern, but PSG regained control just before half-time after a VAR decision led to a penalty, calmly converted by Ousmane Dembélé.

The second half turned explosive. Kvaratskhelia struck again before Dembélé added another, pushing PSG into a commanding 5-2 lead within minutes of the restart.

But Bayern refused to collapse. Dayot Upamecano pulled one back with a header before Luis Díaz reduced the deficit further, setting up a tense finish as the German side chased an equaliser.

Despite the late surge, PSG held on to secure a narrow but crucial advantage heading into the second leg in Munich.

The match was not just about goals but also milestones. The nine-goal spectacle shattered previous semi-final scoring records, while Kane became the first English player to score in six consecutive Champions League matches.

For PSG, the result also ended a difficult run against Bayern, having lost their previous five encounters, and reinforced their ambition to defend their European crown.
