Intensive Boot Camp Boosts Academic Preparedness

In a response to declining Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results, the Asuogyaman District has launched Ampem EduCamp 2025, a two-week academic boot camp hosted at Akosombo International School. Spearheaded by Member of Parliament and Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, the initiative brought 400 Junior High School (JHS 2) students—five top performers from each school—together for focused coaching in English, Mathematics, and Science.

The camp featured interactive problem-solving sessions, mentorship, and distribution of learning materials, including over 2,000 exercise books, mathematical sets, and textbooks. At the close, students took an assessment to identify standout performers, with Zoe Kudo Yayra emerging as the top student.

A Strategic, Long-Term Vision for Success

Beyond the academic element, Mr. Nyarko is addressing the district’s broader educational infrastructure. He has funded the construction and renovation of several classroom blocks to improve learning environments. District Education Director Augustina Adwoa Owusu praised these efforts as pivotal in tackling systemic challenges in education and remain optimistic that Asuogyaman is on track to become one of Ghana’s top-performing districts.
