Stonebwoy Eulogises Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru

Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has joined the nation in mourning the eight victims of last Wednesday’s tragic military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

Speaking in an emotional interview with TV3 on August 7, 2025, the musician expressed his heartbreak over the loss of two men he considered father figures — the late Environment Minister Alhaji Dr Murtala Mohammed and the late Alhaji Muniru Mohammed.

“This is a very sad moment for Ghana,” Stonebwoy said. “Personally, I am devastated. Murtala and Alhaji Muniru were not just leaders; they were like fathers to me. They offered me guidance, wisdom, and support at different stages of my life and career. Their deaths leave a huge void.”

Stonebwoy, known for his activism and philanthropic work, said the tragedy should be a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing relationships. He urged Ghanaians to unite in grief and support the families of the deceased.

The helicopter crash claimed the lives of several high-profile figures, including Defence Minister Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and six other military officers. A national mourning period has been declared, with the state funeral set for Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square.
