Fire Breaks Out Near Ferro Fabrik Ltd in Tema Heavy Industrial Area
A fierce fire erupted in the early hours of Thursday, June 19, behind Ferro Fabrik Ltd in the Tema Heavy Industrial Area, destroying several wooden structures and prompting a swift response from emergency services.
According to reports from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) dispatched seven fire tenders to the scene to tackle the rapidly spreading blaze. Senior fire officers, including the Regional Commander, Operations Officer, and District Commanders, were on site to lead and coordinate firefighting efforts.
“Rigorous firefighting is ongoing, with teams working around the clock to prevent further spread and destruction,” said a GNFS official at the scene.
Investigation underway
While no casualties have been confirmed, the cause of the fire remains unknown. The GNFS has promised to provide a full update after their preliminary investigations.
The incident comes as a reminder of the risks in densely packed industrial zones, especially those with flammable materials like wooden structures. Eyewitness videos showed massive flames lighting up the early morning sky as firefighters battled to protect nearby businesses and equipment.
Authorities are urging the public and business owners in the area to remain calm but alert as they continue monitoring the situation.
