The Ghana Police Service has promoted four gallant officers from the Western Central Regional Command for their outstanding diligence, commitment, and professionalism in the line of duty.

The promoted officers include:

  • No. 47459 General Sergeant Fetus Gameli Kukuia, promoted to Inspector
  • No. 52192 General Corporal Christian Asare, and No. 52441 General Corporal Nicholas Kingsley Amoah, both promoted to Sergeant
  • No. 59947 General Constable Adam Yakubu, promoted to Lance Corporal

The promotions were sanctioned by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Police Management Board (POMAB), who praised the officers for their exemplary service. The IGP emphasized that such acts of dedication will not go unnoticed and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence.

The promotions come in the wake of a significant police operation conducted on April 30, 2025, a day after the murder of five individuals at Asiyaw near Nsawam. Officers from the Western Central Regional Command successfully apprehended three suspects—Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab—at Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong.

The suspects were traveling on a Grand Bird Bus (Registration AS 4431 22) when they were intercepted. Upon a search, police retrieved a submachine gun and twenty-one rounds of ammunition from Hakeem Imoro. He later confessed that the weapon was handed to him by Samuel Atsu Forson, alias Alanyo, who had already been arrested in connection with the Asiyaw killings.

Subsequent investigations confirmed the suspects’ direct involvement in the murders and revealed that they were attempting to flee the region.

The Ghana Police Service lauded the swift and professional conduct of the officers involved, noting that such bravery and vigilance are crucial in the ongoing fight against crime. The Service reiterated its pledge to uphold professionalism and reward officers who go above and beyond to protect citizens.
