Inaki Williams wins LaLiga African MVP award for second consecutive season

Ghanaian international and Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams has been crowned Sporty LaLiga’s Africa’s Most Valuable Player for the 2024/25 season, marking his second consecutive win of the prestigious award.

The 30-year-old edged out Villarreal’s Pape Gueye and Osasuna’s Enzo Boyomo to retain the title, which recognises the top-performing African players in Spain’s top-flight league.
Inaki played a crucial role for Athletic Bilbao, registering six goals and eight assists in 35 La Liga appearances this season. His consistent form helped solidify his reputation as one of the league’s most influential wingers.

Williams, who has spent his entire professional career with Bilbao, switched international allegiance to Ghana in 2022. Since joining the Black Stars, he has scored two goals in 22 appearances.

Despite his club success, Inaki was notably left out of Ghana’s 23-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Unity Cup in London. Head coach Otto Addo is reportedly using the four-nation tournament to evaluate new and emerging talents.
Inaki’s back-to-back MVP recognition reflects his growing influence in La Liga and underscores the strong presence of African talent in European football.
