A heated parliamentary debate erupted following the President’s recent State of the Nation Address, as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) fiercely disputed Ghana’s economic direction.
NDC MP Eric Adam defended the President’s economic outlook, stating that the administration inherited severe financial difficulties from the previous NPP-led government. He dismissed NPP claims that the President was merely lamenting, pointing out that even the opposition had previously acknowledged similar economic struggles.
“The President did not merely lament; he presented the reality of an economy that was already struggling under the NPP,”Adam argued, citing rising poverty and unemployment as evidence of past economic mismanagement.
