Former Ghanaian footballer Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has urged the public to avoid jumping to conclusions regarding Laryea Kingston’s abrupt resignation as Black Starlets coach. Kingston stepped down following the team’s 2-1 loss to Burkina Faso in the ongoing WAFU B U-17 tournament held in Ghana.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, in a Peace FM interview, highlighted the complexity of Kingston’s emotional post-match statement. He emphasized the need for deeper analysis instead of hasty judgments.

“The interview is filled with emotions and other factors,” Agyemang-Badu remarked. “A deep dive is necessary to avoid misinterpretations.”

He acknowledged Kingston’s dedication to Ghana, citing his playing career and coaching efforts. Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu also commended the GFA’s trust in Kingston’s development plans for the team.

“I witnessed his intelligence firsthand while scouting with him in the Volta Region,” Agyemang-Badu said, expressing his disappointment at Kingston’s departure. “It’s unclear if his resignation reflects a European approach or stems from the interview’s sensitive language. Regardless, the situation is unfortunate.”

Following the resignation, Kingston apologized to the GFA and Ghanaians, admitting he could have handled things differently.
