Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has announced her return to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary race in the constituency, reversing her earlier decision to explore political opportunities elsewhere.

In a statement dated Thursday, October 22, 2026, the former legislator said she would contest the party’s parliamentary primaries once the NPP releases the official timetable and guidelines for the exercise.

She explained that her decision followed careful consideration, consultations and discussions with party leaders and executives.

“Earlier, I had indicated my intention to pursue opportunities beyond the constituency. However, upon deeper reflection, I have come to appreciate, that, there is no greater honour or responsibility than serving and representing the interests and aspirations of the over two hundred thousand constituents of our beloved constituency in parliament,” she stated.

Adwoa Safo said her renewed interest in the contest was motivated by her commitment to the constituency and her conviction that she could continue contributing to its development.

Reflecting on her 12 years in Parliament, she noted that Dome-Kwabenya had recorded progress but still faced significant developmental challenges. She described the area as one of Ghana’s fastest-growing constituencies, with considerable potential as well as pressing needs.

The former MP said her tenure involved working closely with residents, party members, traditional and religious leaders, and other stakeholders to address local concerns and support development initiatives.

She also highlighted the NPP’s electoral performance in Dome-Kwabenya during the 2012, 2016 and 2020 general elections. According to her, the party obtained 63,373 votes in 2012, increased the figure to 65,488 in 2016 and secured 75,041 votes in 2020.

Adwoa Safo attributed the party’s performance to the collective contributions of its members, supporters and constituents, emphasising the importance of unity within the party.

“The strength of our party lies in our unity, our shared values, and our collective willingness to work together in pursuit of our common purpose,” she said.

“Dome-Kwabenya is home. It has always been home. My commitment to its people remains unwavering, and my resolve to serve remains steadfast,” she stated.
