A man from Konongo-Odumase in the Ashanti Region, Akwasi Wusu, has accused fetish priestess Komfour Frimponmaa of ending their 35-year relationship and allegedly denying him access to properties they acquired during their time together.

The former couple, who have nine children comprising five boys and four girls, are reportedly embroiled in a dispute following the breakdown of their long-standing relationship.

Wusu has turned to a public platform to seek justice, claiming that he dedicated much of his life to supporting Frimponmaa and helping her through difficult periods before their relationship ended.

Recounting their history, Wusu alleged that he remained with Frimponmaa when she began experiencing what he described as a spiritual calling, a development that reportedly led to her rejection by members of her family.

According to him, he offered her support during that challenging period and eventually became her linguist, assisting her in carrying out her spiritual responsibilities.

He further claimed that they worked together to save money and acquired land on which they started building a house.

However, Wusu alleged that their relationship came to an unexpected end while he was away attending the one-week observance of his late mother.

He claimed that upon returning, he was informed by his children that their mother had ended the relationship. According to him, the children brought his belongings to him in a Ghana Must Go bag.

Wusu also alleged that when he visited the house less than two weeks before appearing on the programme to present his concerns, he discovered that another man was living there.

Daughter Supports Father’s Allegations

Mary, the first child of the former couple, accompanied her father to the studios to support his account of events.

She alleged that their mother had initially introduced a man identified as Kofi Dada to the family as their uncle. However, she claimed that the children later came to suspect that he was romantically involved with their mother.

Mary further alleged that the relationship had contributed to their mother’s neglect of the children, adding to the family’s difficulties following the separation.

Fetish Priestess Rejects Property Claims

Responding to the allegations, Komfour Frimponmaa maintained that the house and other properties in question belonged to the gods and were not hers to distribute.

She insisted that the properties were under the authority of the gods, who, in her view, should determine their fate.

Despite Wusu’s claims that he supported her and contributed to their life together over the years, Frimponmaa reportedly maintained that she would not give him money or property.

She also levelled accusations against her former partner, alleging that he insulted her about the smell of her private parts. She further claimed that he smoked marijuana and frequently became intoxicated.

Defending her position, she stated: “I will never stay with you again or give you a penny. I have sent the case to court, and the Sumankwahene will be involved.”

Case Sparks Debate Over Fairness in Relationships

The presenter, Ohemaa Benewaa, and her team reportedly expressed concern about the allegations concerning Wusu’s treatment and the circumstances facing the couple’s children.

The team also criticised the alleged conduct of Frimponmaa, Kofi Dada and the family head, known as the Abusuapanin. It indicated its willingness to explore lawful avenues to help Wusu seek redress.

The dispute has generated discussions about the rights and responsibilities of partners who spend years building families and acquiring assets together before separating.

Some listeners have questioned whether the situation would have attracted a different public reaction if a woman had made similar allegations against a male partner.

The debate has brought renewed attention to concerns about fairness, property ownership and the treatment of both men and women when long-term relationships break down.

The dispute remains unresolved, with the parties expected to pursue the appropriate channels to address their differences.
