Ghanaian activist and social media personality Ralph St Williams reportedly confronted police officers at the Kwabenya Circuit Court on Thursday, September 24, 2026, after journalists and bloggers were allegedly prevented from filming suspects linked to a €225 million narcotics seizure in France.
The incident occurred when a heavily guarded convoy arrived at the court, attracting a large number of media personnel who had gathered to cover proceedings involving six suspects connected to the seizure.
According to reports, some police officers attempted to stop journalists and bloggers from recording the arrival of the accused persons and allegedly threatened to seize the cameras and mobile phones of those who continued filming.
The move reportedly led to a heated exchange, with Ralph St Williams stepping in to challenge the officers over their decision to restrict the media.
In footage recorded by Ghanaian blogger Magikal GH, Ralph St Williams can be heard arguing that journalists should be allowed to carry out their work.
“Remember, they are media men, they have the right to come on whatever they want to. We are no way to stand the court,” he told the officers.
He also questioned the basis for preventing media coverage of a case involving a 3.9-tonne consignment of suspected narcotics intercepted in France.
Ralph St Williams reportedly maintained that the scale of the alleged drug operation warranted public scrutiny, particularly because of the potential implications for Ghana’s international image.
€225 million narcotics case
The six suspects who appeared before the Kwabenya Circuit Court are linked to the seizure of approximately 3.9 tonnes of suspected narcotics in France, a case that has attracted considerable attention in Ghana and internationally.
Several other individuals have also been detained by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in connection with the investigation.
They include Jessica Hartog, owner of Eurospa and Beauty Lounge in East Legon; her fiancé and socialite Biggs; Musah Attah, popularly known as “Kromo”; and Kweku Otchere.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged shipment and the roles of the individuals detained remain subject to ongoing investigations and court proceedings.
The confrontation at the court has since generated reactions on social media, with users expressing differing views about Ralph St Williams’ intervention and the conduct of the police during the incident.
