Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has called on the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) to investigate the quality of sachet water being sold to consumers.

The musician raised the concern after observing a noticeable change in the colour of some sachet water he had stored at home for several weeks.

According to Kwabena Kwabena, he had started purchasing sachet water for cooking because of concerns about the quality of the tap water available to him.

However, he said his concerns deepened after some of the sachets he had kept for a few weeks appeared discoloured.

In a video, the musician displayed two sachets from the same bag and drew attention to the difference in their appearance, questioning what might have caused the change.

“This is serious,” he said, as he urged the FDA and GSA to examine the quality and safety of sachet water being supplied to the public.

Kwabena Kwabena further expressed concern that consuming or using potentially contaminated water for cooking could expose consumers to health risks that may not be immediately apparent.
