Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has named a 24-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, as well as an international friendly against Morocco.
Mohammed Kudus returns to the squad after missing Ghana’s previous international assignment, while Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor have received their first senior call-ups.
Gyamerah has been rewarded for his recent form at SV Elversberg, where he plays as a right-back. Donkor, meanwhile, earns his maiden call-up after impressing with Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls.
The squad includes goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who featured for Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alongside Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Anang.
In defence, Queiroz has selected Gideon Mensah, Baba Rahman, Jan Gyamerah, Derrick Luckassen, Nathaniel Adjei, Jerome Opoku, Kojo Oppong Peprah and Alexander Djiku.
The midfield options are Kwasi Sibo, Caleb Yirenkyi, Augustine Boakye, Ronald Donkor and Ibrahim Sulemana.
The forward line comprises Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Mohammed Kudus, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, Ibrahim Osman, Prince Adu Kwabena and Jordan Ayew.
Notably, Black Stars vice-captain Thomas Partey is absent from the squad. Reports indicate that the Al-Shabab midfielder is undergoing medical assessment.
Ghana will begin their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign away to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24 before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 27.
The Black Stars will then travel to Tangier to face Morocco in an international friendly on October 4. The match replaces the previously proposed friendly against Tanzania.
The fixtures mark the start of Queiroz’s new mandate after the Ghana Football Association retained the Portuguese coach to lead the Black Stars into the next phase of the programme and the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
